The Municipality of Palma Campania, recognizing the Palmese Carnival as the main cultural, folkloristic and historical event of the country, constituted the 15 July 1999 the Carnival Foundation of Palma Campania.

Over the years the body, established with the aim of protecting, promoting and supporting the realization of Carnival and any other event connected to it, has profoundly modified and improved the organization of the historic city event, experimenting in the field molte novità, alcune ancora oggi fanno parte del format della festa e della spettacolarità delle quadriglie, others were experiments that were no longer repeated.

At the time it was precisely there quadriglie, absolute protagonists of this centuries-old event, to encourage the establishment of a body responsible for organizing and enhancing it.

The path that led in 2019 the Palmese Carnival Foundation to celebrate twenty years was started with the creation in 1996 of the Palmese Carnival Association, based in via Roma, led for the first editions by Antonio Mosca.

The association achieved important objectives, introducing as an official event the Rape of the Pennant, until then the prerogative only of the quadrille that had established it in 1988, the Gruppo Storico Quadriglia degli Studenti, and establishing the Gruppo Stabile della Quadriglia Palmese, which performed at the Venice Carnival in 1995 and in 1998 in Naples. In both performances the Palma Campania quadrilles achieved enormous success.

July 15, 1999 with a deed from the notary Raffaele Cepparulo the Palma Campania Carnival Foundation is born and the first president was Antonio Mosca. But it was only in 2002 that the administration chaired by mayor Carmine De Luca established a fund of 51,000 euros. Until then, in fact, the organization without initial assets had not had legal recognition. Finally in 2003 with decree of the Prefecture of Naples n.1397/2003 it was recognized as a legal personality and in September of the same year the Board of Directors was appointed.

In 2004 Biagio Peluso, president of the foundation, he introduced the Historical Parade and, with a far-sighted intuition, established the Palio, competition still in existence for the assignment of the Aragonese Banner among the participating quadrilles.

Subsequently, they succeeded each other at the helm of the masked entity Antonio Ferrara, current president of the Pro Loco of Palma Campania, and Salvatore Addeo, who established the regional lottery combined with the Palmese Carnival in 2006.

From 2008 to 2013 the foundation was led in turn by Andrea Vuolo, Luca Montanino, Antonio Pesce (twice) and Matteo Santella, who introduced many innovations, including the Occasion Song Festival in the quadrille hall, the Quadrille Village, the Illuminations along the historical route and in 2011 the Twinning with the Viareggio Carnival. In 2014 Costantino Lombardo at the helm of the foundation "represents" the ancient tradition of the Flight of the Falcon.

The following year and for two years the foundation led by Daniele Rainone's team created an excellent advertising campaign and officially registered in 2015 the “Le Quadriglie” brand at the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (U.I.B.M.). This is his description: “the writing is accompanied by an imprint consisting of a stylized drawing made up of a tambourine, three towers, a musical scale with four notes and a treble clef that merges with a Carnival mask and a ribbon that goes under the tambourine“.

In the end, in the recent three-year period 2015-2018, president Franco Sorrentino introduces the double Parade, the covered Central Stage and the Quadrille Festival.

It is precisely at the end of the first quadrille festival, organized in the historic part of the country, on 9 June 2019, that the handover to the foundation led by Claudio Ferrara, who has always been a quadrille enthusiast, ideally takes place.

Ferrara – who in the Board of Directors of the foundation he is supported by Matteo Santella as vice president, Roberto Stampati as secretary, Domenico Caliendo in the role of cashier and Sabato Simonetti as asset manager - he is the twelfth president.
